Yummy day

While it was doing this outside:

I was doing this:

Chocolate covered pretzels!
Oreo cookies made from scratch!
And no post would be complete without a picture of a super cute baby.
On the agenda for tomorrow: Homemade chicken and noodles, snuggle time, magic cookie bars and chocolate chip toffee cookies! Busy day.

For my little man

Not too long ago I asked my sister-in-law Beth to sketch me a tattoo. Something to do with Carter's name. I didnt really care what, but I wanted her to design it. She gave me some great ideas. I chose one and was going to get it. But then I changed my mind and decided to go with a different one she had drawn. It was a bird holding a banner with Carter's name on it. The tattoo artist changed it just a bit, and here is how it turned out (thanks Beth!):

It is still red and sore, as you can see from the picture but it looks great! I love it. And yes, I know that I will have to tattoo each of my future childrens' names on me. I'm not too concerned about it.

New vocabulary

Carter is expanding his vocabulary. He has been searching dictionaries and thesauruses for just the right words to say. He has settled on "dadada" and "nanana". Good enough for me. I captured a little of the former so take a look. And you can't help buy enjoy his cuteness and fuzzy hair. (And go figure he is saying both like crazy while I am uploading this video. Dang camera.)

Family Time

In the past 3 weeks, Darek's Grandma Ahrens and his Grandpa Graves both passed away. This was a very tough, sad time and involved a lot of traveling for us. Even though funerals are never fun, it gave us some much needed family time. We got to spend a lot of time with his parents, brothers, uncles, aunts and even his sister and her husband and their children all the way from Texas. Here are some pics:

Darn you Benjamin Franklin!

If you were still alive, I would write you a mean, nasty letter. With lots of expletives. You see, through about 2 seconds of research (thank you google) I found out that Benjamin Franklin was the fool who invented Daylight Savings Time. I suppose this was a good idea a million years ago, but why now? I would invite someone to come over and explain to my 7 month old baby why his schedule is all messed up now. Or better yet, come tell his mom why she should get 1 less hour of sleep. Is this some form of torture? How am I supposed to make it to bed before 11:00pm now? Or wait is that 10:00? Or 12:00? Im confused. Carter woke up at 7:00 this morning. Thats good, you might say. Except he went to bed at midnight. And woke up at 7:00 which used to be 6:00. Oh, I give up.
