Carter's First Christmas

We spent Christmas day at Grandpa & Grandma Graves' house. It was a lot of fun! Carter was very good the whole time. Carter and I spent the 26th at Grammy and Grampy Allen's house (Darek was in Hays for a wedding). It was a lot of fun, also.

Carter spent most of his time taste testing the presents:

Hans helped unwrap some presents:

I love this picture of Carter and I (he is going to be bigger than me soon!):

Hilarious

Send your own ElfYourself eCards

Just so you know

Its 4 degrees outside right now. The wind chill is 14 degrees below zero. We are staying in our jammies today. (Or Darek's pajama pants that I stole from him- they are so much cozier than mine. Why is that??)

New 'Do

For my Birthday Week (yeah, I've decided it's a week) I decided I would go get my hair did (thats how the cool people say it). Doesn't it look lovely?

It's serious work being a baby!

Its tough being a baby- you have to drink stinky formula and then barf on yourself. You have to pee (and worse!) in your pants. You have to take naps! Oh my goodness. And the hardest thing of all, you have to keep those darn toys in line! They might start misbehaving if you don't give them the serious stare (mad eyes) once in a while.

Santa Baby

Darek, Aunty Courtney, Stan and I took Carter to see Santa Claus on Sunday. Im pretty sure he asked for formula but I couldnt hear his conversation with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Getting psyched up for Santa

His big moment- he didn't even cry

Carter's 4 Month Check-Up

Yesterday, Carter had his 4 month check up! (Ok, a little late.) Anyway, here are his stats and how they compate to his birth stats:

Birth weight: 7 lbs 15oz
Current weight: 17 lbs 8 oz
Birth length: 20 inches
Current length: 25 inches

I dont remember what his head measurment was at birth- something like 30 or 33 centimeters, but now it is 44 centimeters!

Dr Ransom told us it is time to start feeding Carter cereal with a spoon, so here is how it went:

AND I'm mad at the Dr. He told us that it is time Carter starts sleeping through the night. He said he shouldn't be waking up to eat like he has been (what are you gonna do when you have a hungry boy??). He got my hopes up that Carter would sleep through the night last night and GUESS WHAT? Not happening (he woke up at 1:30 and 5:00). One of these days (or months or years) I will get a full nights sleep....

Snowy Sunday (The sequel to Winter Wonderland)

Cue the Christmas music! It's still snowing- I love* it! It puts me in a great mood. It is totally worth driving 2 miles-per-hour on the road so you don't wreck, or walking carefully so you don't fall and injure your tailbone (not fun, trust me), or rushing so the snot doesn't freeze to your nose. Ahh, winter.

* By "I love it" I truly mean I LOVE IT, I wasn't being sarcastic. Just thought I would clarify that for you. (Thanks, Jared for your inspirations to use asterisks. And Beth for inspiring to me to take sideways pictures.)

Winter Wonderland

I had wished that it would snow- specifically while Jared and Beth were her visiting. And it did snow. 2 days late. Here is the snow in all its wet, flaky glory:

And I had to throw in a picture of one VERY large baby boy. (Notice how he is about to out grow his carseat. I am taking donations for a new one.)

Grammy knows

Grammy won! She saw Hansie hiding in the pillows (he likes sleeping under anything he can get under- clothes from the dryer, pillows, blankets, etc.). Congratulations Grammy, you didnt win anything, but you get the satisfaction of seeing your Granddog.

Can you spot the hidden object???

Can you find the hidden object in this picture?

Leave a comment (by clicking where it says 0 comments, duh) and tell me what you think it is. (You can do it anonymously by not signing in- but tell me who you are in the comment!) I will post the answer soon!

Faces

Carter has discovered faces! They are his new favorite toy. It is quite interesting when he grabs on to your lip and pulls as hard as he can (or you hair, or your nose, etc.). (And he can't wait to pull on his Aunt Beth and Uncle Jared's faces when he meets them for the first time!!)

Peaceful Baby Boy

I know a baby, such a baby,

Round blue eyes and cheeks of pink,

Such an elbow furrowed with dimples,

Such a wrist where creases sink.

"Cuddle and love me, cuddle and love me,"

Crows the mouth of coral pink.

Oh, the bald head, and, oh, the sweet lips,

And, oh, the sleepy eyes that wink!

Ta-Da!

I did my very first gel nail! Its kinda similar to acrylic, but without the smelliness. Its supposed to be a better product, so I was excited to start. Anyway, I decided I better practice on myself before I try it on someone else, and it turned out great! I sculpted a nail instead of using a tip (sculpting is manipulating the product to create a nail with a form and just the product, a tip is something you glue on). Sculpting is supposed to last longer because there is no glue to break down. Here is how it turned out:

I only did one because I can't stand to have long nails! I will just have to look silly for a few weeks.... Oh well. Who wants to be my next victim?

Guest blogger!

Yay! I get to be a guest blogger on Function Loves Form. I know you are jealous! Keep checking on there to see what its all about!

Nap Time

I was talking to Beth on the phone today while Darek watched Carter for a little bit. I heard Carter start fussing, so I went to rescue Darek and I grabbed Carter. I continued talking on the phone while I tried to calm him down so I could put him in his swing to take a nap (that used to be the only place he would nap!). I sat down in the rocking chair and after a bit I looked down and Carter had crashed. Sometimes the best kind of naps are the ones in moms arms.

Giggly Man

This video is hilarious. If it doesn't make you smile, you are a grump. (This was the first time I have ever heard him laugh like that!)

The Last Day of October

A.K.A HALLOWEEN! We only took Carter a few places to trick-or-treat. And poor Hansie didn't get to go anywhere. Perhaps next year. Anyway, Carter dressed up as Grandpa Allen (so a pocket t-shirt and jeans). And Hans... well, you can see for yourself. Enjoy!

He's so excited for Halloween!

Blue pocket t-shirt and his blue jeans

He knows that he is too cute.

Hans as a horse/sherriff hybrid

Oh the things we come up with.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Last night was Carter's first viewing of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. (Ok, so he only watched it for about 2 minutes.) Anyway here is his reaction:

Oooh, how excited he was

That must have been a scary part

And then he was out like a light
