The Last Day of October

A.K.A HALLOWEEN! We only took Carter a few places to trick-or-treat. And poor Hansie didn't get to go anywhere. Perhaps next year. Anyway, Carter dressed up as Grandpa Allen (so a pocket t-shirt and jeans). And Hans... well, you can see for yourself. Enjoy!

He's so excited for Halloween!

Blue pocket t-shirt and his blue jeans

He knows that he is too cute.

Hans as a horse/sherriff hybrid

Oh the things we come up with.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Last night was Carter's first viewing of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. (Ok, so he only watched it for about 2 minutes.) Anyway here is his reaction:

Oooh, how excited he was

That must have been a scary part

And then he was out like a light

Trick Or Treat

Hans has decided to go trick-or-treating a little early. Grammy decided to buy some Milk Duds to munch on and Hans decided he wanted to steal the box. Notice the guilty look.

Fall

I never considered fall to be my favorite season. Im more of a summer kinda gal. But, for some reason, fall is growing on me. How can you resist it with pictures like these:

And just think: the trees have just begun changing, they will be even more beautiful here soon!

$1 Kitchen Makeover

Mom came to pick us up yesterday to go spend the day at her house and she mentioned that she wanted to paint her kitchen. It just so happened that I had 1 quart of Oops paint in the garage. (In case you aren't aware of the awesomeness that is Oops paint, it is paint that someone had mixed and they didnt want it for whatever reason. And the best part is, it is only $1) So, I spent the day painting her kitchen- it turned out great! It used to be a very light yellow (kinda like this). Ta-da!

He has a lot to say!

Carter has a lot to tell me whenever I get home from work. (Of course today he didnt talk as much because I was trying to record it- go figure!). Anyway, I couldn't decide which video to post, so I am putting them both on here. So there. Enjoy!

Ok, so I was wrong

I previously posted about the cutest baby picture ever. This one takes the cake.

I won!

I don't remember if I told you, but I won a giveaway that Beth had on her website. Anyway, I won! She offered to draw a picture of anything that I wanted and, of course, I chose for her to draw my favorite picture of Carter. (Did I mention she is amazingly talented? You can purchase some of her super-duper great paintings here. She will do custom paintings as well!). Here is the drawing (and thanks again, Beth!):

Hungry Eyes (and hands)

Im not sure if anyone else is aware of the phenomenon that is "hungry hands" or "hungry eyes" (not quite like in the song) but I have become quite familiar with it. Carter has this certain look he gets when its close (or not even anywhere NEAR) feeding time. As I write this, it is 6:15 am and he is STARVING. It has been 2 hours since he ate. I try to make him wait three, but he broke out the hungry hands, so we will see who wins. I got a video of the hungry hands (and notice his hungry mouth, too!) but not hungry eyes. If you dont move out of the way of his food, he will squeeze the life out of you (or scratch you half to death)! Watch out! And remember, this is just a mild case. I would hate for you to see the actual 3-hour mark.

Updates

So, finally things are moving again to where I actually have a few updates!

Update #1:
Darek and I had talked about getting me new wedding rings one day (the ones we bought were nice (and cheap!), but we planned on replacing them). That's right, I just did parentheses in parentheses. Well, I found a ring that I REALLY liked and with Darek's approval, I purchased it to wear as my wedding ring. Here it is! I LOVE IT! It is just a plain white gold band. Its something you don't usually see and I am not a big fan of diamonds, so everyone who was buying me TONS of diamonds for Christmas, now you know. Exchange them for something else. Sorry.

Update #2:
I haven't been doing much with the whole nail business situation. I decided its time to get things moving again. So here is what is happening in the immediate future: I am going to move my nail stuff from the basement (our basement is super nice, but basements still scare me. And its super cold down there.) to the spare bedroom. The spare bed will be moved (eventually) to the basement. AND the BIG nail news: Duh duh duh dah! I am going to be doing GEL NAILS! I swear if you haven't heard about them yet, you will! They are going to replace acrylic. Anyway, we decided it would be ok for me to invest in it and wool-ah! I should be getting the product any day. I will be an expert soon. I'll keep you posted.
Update #3:
Carter is still EXTREMELY cute.

Bath Time (a.k.a Splash Time)

Carter has learned to splash! (I shot this with my digital camera- I didn't realize it recorded sound! Notice our unsuccesfull attempts to get his attention!)

I Survived!

I survived my first actual week back to work (Ok, so I had Monday off.). I didn't bawl my eyeballs out like I thought I would or have any nervous breakdowns. It wasn't bad! Grandma and Daddy did a great job babysitting!

Pray for Kobe

It really makes you think about what you have when somebody else is going through tough times. I have met Brooke a couple of times- here and there. She is good friends with Courtney, and so am I so our paths have crossed a time or two. She seems sweet and fun. But Brooke and her family could really use any prayers you can send their way. Her 4 year-old (today! Happy Birthday, Kobe!) is sick. You can read about Kobe here.

Game Day

KU played Iowa State on Saturday. It was kind of a close, scary game, but Im pretty sure KU won because of Carter and his fan-ocity. (I can make up words- this is my blog after all.)

Notice the resemblance to Mark Mangino:

Grammy's House

On Friday, Darek, Carter and I visited Grammy at her house. We ate lunch, and took a long walk up to the mailbox (Carter likes the bumps when he is in his stroller- it puts him to sleep!). Here are some of the pictures from the visit:

Grandpa, Carter and Hans

Carter laughing at his Grammy
This is his talking face- he has serious stories.
Little man
Mmm, fists!
Ralphy and Randy
The flowers were in bloom- pretty!

Forest Park

Darek, Carter and I decided to go for a walk in this beautiful October weather (its a sunny 70 degrees out!). What better place for a nice walk than Forest Park? Its beautiful. Here are our pictures (notice how good of a mood he is in even though he got his shots today!):

Starting out on our adventure!
Doing good so far...
Enjoying the scenery.
Beautiful, huh?
More of the scenery
Daddy and Carter
He's having fun!
Trying to walk off those last few baby pounds
Almost done!
Getting sleepy.........

If I had a superpower...

If I had my choice of just one superpower to have it would be the power to get rid of hiccups.

It's October!!

I love this time of year. Instead of carving the pumpkins this year, I'm going to paint on them. So, to practice I decided to use some buzzards that I printed out online and paint them black. (I printed out the picture then poked tiny holes to outline it then painted inside- I cheated!) They turned out good, so I will be donating them to Buzzard's Pizza (of course!). Here is what one of them looks like:

I would highly recommend doing this! The pumpkins will last a lot longer and you can paint all kinds of stuff on there!

How Time Flies

The other day (on September 29th to be exact) Carter turned 2 months old. I know! I can't believe it either. So, I figured I would post a picture from when he was a couple weeks old and one from now so you can see how much he has changed (err, gained would be a better word).

A slim and trim 7lbs 15 oz

Over 13lbs! You will notice the rolls and how he takes up the whole tub.
